When I paint, I disappear into my corner of the Universe. Nothing is left but my mind, my paints, and my brush. The three of us work as a team. I envision the shapes, mix the colors, and brush them onto a canvas. What was initially white becomes filled with a wash of colorful shapes, like a rainbow forming across the sky. Hanging out in the Universe is so exciting that I look forward to the experience each day.
While working as a Registered Nurse in Boston in the '70's, I started painting 'acrylics on acrylics.' This led to many commissioned pieces. In the 80's, while still nursing, I set aside the art of painting for the art of writing. During those years, I had three books published by Dodd Mead, Prentice Hall, and Pinnacle Books and am currently working on another. In 2002 I traveled to Provence, France, with Connie Winters and bonnie brown fergus. That experience launched me back into painting with fervor. I joined Connie again in September 2008 in Brantome, France, where I met Henry Barnes and am now studying his fabulous style and techniques. My favorite themes are wildlife, whimsy, and landscapes. In 2008 I sold 30 paintings through the b.brown gallery and more through commissioned pieces.
Currently I teach art in Charlotte, NC. Oils and water-based oils are the predominate media of the artists. Some are beginners while others have painted for many years. Most importantly, we bond and have an excellent time together. If you're interested, please use the "contact me" button on this website and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Namaste.
